ALR Engineering provided civil engineering services and site supervision support for the conversion of an existing 22,590-square-foot warehouse into a cold storage facility for SunFed Produce in Rio Rico, Arizona. The project involved structural load re-evaluation, site drainage improvements, and truck circulation planning to enhance logistics and storage performance for fresh produce distribution.
Scope of Work:
- Site drainage redesign to eliminate water ponding and ensure proper stormwater runoff
- Coordination of utility requirements for refrigeration and energy-efficient lighting systems
- Civil support for structural re-engineering related to ceiling and equipment loads
- Oversight of new insulated service door placement and truck maneuvering area expansion
- Construction supervision during exterior site improvements and drainage execution
Outcome:
The completed facility features a 9,900-square-foot temperature-controlled cold room with improved site access and circulation for freight operations.
